The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is encouraging more promoters to come on board to support the sport.
The Bula Boxing Promotions staged its inaugural program at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday.
BCF director Usman Ali said the program was successful. Ali said the crowd was average in attendance.
“There was rugby in Lautoka and there were other events which coincided with the program,” he said.
“But the program was well organised and the fans enjoyed the fights.
“There is an issue raised by the Bula Boxing Promotions in regards to the late withdrawal of Ronald Naidu.
“We can’t say on the issue right now as the BCF board decides.”
Naidu was supposed to fight Nathan Singh for the Fiji lightweight title but pulled out last Thursday handing a sick sheet.
Sachin Mudaliar was roped in to fight Singh at the eleventh hour.
Mudaliar was dropped twice by Singh who recorded a second round technical knockout victory.
Singh with his powerful body punches decked Mudaliar in the first round.
He then rounded off Mudaliar in the next round, winning with 1:31 minutes left on the clock.
