Assistant Health Minister Penioni Ravunawa has called for increased accountability among the ministry’s staff.
Mr Ravunawa said there was a need for healthcare workers to take responsibility for their actions.
“The toll-free number, 157, allows the public to report any issues or complaints, giving us the opportunity to address these concerns effectively,” he said.
He said the complainants should provide details such as the facility involved and the time of the incident.
“This information is critical for senior managers and team leaders to investigate and resolve the issue.
“With all this information, we can initiate the investigation process and take appropriate action,” he said.
He said depending on the severity of each case, staff may be warned, disciplined, or terminated.
“We need to continuously improve, and using this mobile number will help us achieve that.”
He said the toll-free number would be a vital tool in ensuring the ministry met the needs of all Fijians.
