The successful outcomes of the 2024 Corona Fiji Pro were presented before Cabinet, according to an announcement by Government detailing the decisions made in its 11th meeting.

The decisions, dated Tuesday, July 22, 2025, stated members were briefed on the event that took place from August 20 to August 29, 2024 at Cloudbreak, three miles (4.83km) south of Namotu Island in the Mamanucas.

When the event was held last year, it ended a seven-year hiatus that began in 2017, halting what had continued since its inception in 2014.

Cabinet had approved its return in 2024 since it recognised the widespread impact the event would have and the intrinsic value of bringing events of global prominence to Fiji.

When the 2024 Corona Fiji Pro was held at Cloudbreak last August, it had a total of 36 surfers from 12 countries take part in the high stakes event.

This year’s Fiji Pro event will be held next month at Cloudbreak once again for the second year in a three-year term.

The event will be overseen by a Steering Committee, chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Meanwhile, the final Fiji Spartan Event, initially scheduled for this year, will be held next year, as agreed in the 11th Meeting of Cabinet.

The change was made in consideration of amendments to vital collaborations and recent updates to the international Spartan calendar.
