Cabinet yesterday gave the greenlit for redeployment of funds within the 2024-2025 Budget, tota;lling $78,556,185.
Budget redeployment are reallocating funds within an approved national budget to address unforeseen or urgent expenditure demands without increasing the overall budget ceiling.
The $78.5 million redeployment were for:
-Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS): $11.0 million for the acquisition of advanced x-ray machines to strengthen border security and enhance customs efficiency.
-Fiji Rice Limited: $1.4 million in additional paddy grant funding to support local rice production and bolster the agricultural sector.
-Ministry of Education: $23.8 million to cover personal emoluments, ensuring adequate staffing to deliver quality education services.
-Ministry of Health: $10.0 million for personal emoluments to support healthcare workers and sustain essential medical services.
-Fiji Meats Industry Board: $0.3 million in operating grant assistance to promote the meat industry’s sustainability.
-Outstanding Film Tax Rebate: $22.1 million to clear pending rebates, reinforcing Fiji’s appeal as a global film production hub.
-Health Public Private Partnership: $10.0 million to meet commitments for partnerships aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure.
