THE selection of eligible players from the Pro D2 competition in France for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians team will be based on their current form and their form from last year-according to head coach Mick Byrne.
“Yeah, there’s some players up there (Pro D2). Taniela Sadrugu and a few others that are coming into that level.
“The selection for November is you’re banking on what they did last year and then you have a look at the two or three games that they played this year before you need to select them,” Byrne said.
He added that the Top 14 players have had more game time this year compared to the Pro D2 players.
“The French players have had three rounds (Top 14). They’ve (Pro D2) only just started their season, so you’re banking on what they did last year and then you’re seeing how they turn up this year.”
Fly-half Caleb Muntz is the only Pro D2 player named in the Flying Fijians squad for the Autumn Nations Series next month.
Muntz was in sensational form in his debut match for Provence against USON Nevers two weeks ago.
Fiji will start their November Tour against England next Monday at Twickenham Stadium at 5.40am.
