Busy month for Lautoka port

For the month ending March 27, the port of Lautoka is expected to be a hive of activities.

According to the Fiji Ports Terminal Limited’s monthly schedule, 18 vessels have arrived in Lautoka since March 1.

From March 2 to March 19, 13 container ships and two container roll-on roll-off vessels also called port.

On March 7, a French naval ship, Bsaom Dentrecasteux, arrived along with a bulk carrier Tientsin sailing under the Hong Kong flagon on March 10.

The schedule noted that six containerships and one container roll on roll-off, South Islander, are expected to arrive in the next few days.

More cruise ships are expected to arrive today and March 22. MS Regatta built in 1999 is operated by Oceania Cruises and has a guest capacity of 670.

The cruise vessel is 181 metres in length with the beam measuring 25 metres.

MS Europa cruise ship is owned and operated by the German company Hapag Lloyd Cruises and has a lower carrying capacity than the previous two ships.

The cruise ships are also anticipated to berth at the Suva Port.
