Business chambers forge new ties

PRESIDENT of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Lawrence Kumar met with his counterpart Rio Fiocco, president of the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PMCCI), on the sidelines of the PNG-Fiji Business Forum 2025 held in Nadi this week to shake hands on a more active collaboration moving forward.

The Forum was hosted by the PNG Investment Promotion Authority and brought together a 25-member PNG delegation led by Papua New Guinea’s Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso and its

Minister for Commerce and Industry Win Bakri Daki alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica.

“Both (chamber presidents) spoke on exploring further business opportunities for their respective members,” NCCI said in a statement.

NCCI stated the PNG delegation of 40 members comprised of representatives from both the PNG Government and a diverse range of private sector companies.

“The PNG private sector delegation included businesses from key sectors such as:

• Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG),

• Manufacturing and Construction,

• Food and Agriculture,

• Finance and Investment,

• Tourism and Infrastructure,

• Retail and Wholesale,

• Textile and Clothing.

“This forum presented a unique opportunity to engage directly with PNG businesses, explore synergies, and establish mutually beneficial partnerships,” NCCI stated.

The forum was held at the Nalagi Hotel in Nadi on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
