Fiji recorded a historic high of 929,740 visitor arrivals in 2023.
Official data released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBoS) this week showed this figure was an increase of 46.1 per cent compared to 2022 visitor arrivals of 636,312 and 4.0 per cent more visitors than 2019, where Fiji received 894,389 visitors.
July recorded the highest with 93,483 visitors, followed by the months of June and September with arrival figures of 90,460 and 90,439, respectively.
Australia continues to be Fiji’s biggest source market with 434,533 tourist arrivals for 2023, compared to 345,149 in 2022 and 367,020 during pre-COVID in 2019.
This is followed by New Zealand with 220,963 visitors and USA with 99,518.
Visitors arriving in Fiji in 2023 for holiday purposes totalled 734,153 while 70,269 came to visit their friends or relatives.
21,998 were here for business purposes while 103,320 visited Fiji for other reasons.
Age wise, FBoS found 60.8 per cent of Fiji’s visitors were between the age range of 25-60 years, which accounts for a vast majority of the working age population.
