Mother’s Day came early for 37-year-old Nakelo villager Titilia Delana who gave birth to quadruplet girls on April 22 at Suva’s Colonial War Memorial Hospital Maternity Unit.

Mrs Delana, who’s been with her daughters at the hospital since welcoming her new bundles of joy, believes God helped her through her difficult pregnancy.

“I found out when I was four months pregnant,” Mrs Delana said.

“I was told by the doctors very early on that it would not be easy, so, I was expecting some challenges.

“When I went to Nausori Hospital, on April 21, they transferred me to CWM. Around 10am the next day they took me to the operation room and I had a C-section.”

Mrs Delana said while two of the infants had to be put in incubators, she was happy that they pulled through.

“I cannot complain as I have been blessed by God.

“I have three sons and I am sure they will be happy to meet their sisters.

“This is a blessing for our family.”

CWM Hospital volunteer worker Jo Carter said giving birth for any mother was not easy.

“And then for a woman to carry and give birth to four would have been very challenging,” said Ms Carter.

“I think it shows Titilia’s strength and her sacrifice for her children.”
