Extra Bula FC will need to be more clinical in front of goal if they are to secure valuable points against South Island United in their Oceania Football Confederation Professional League clash tonight at 8pm.
The side heads into the encounter determined to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Solomon Kings on Saturday, a match in which they created chances but failed to convert.
Midfielder Thomas Dunn admitted missed opportunities proved costly.
“We had a few chances in the first half but we could not finish it off,” Dunn said.
“We had a good team talk at the break and we went back stronger in the second spell.
“We have to finish our opportunities and that is something we will work on.”
Dunn has urged supporters to remain patient as the squad continues to build momentum in a tightly contested eight-team competition.
“We are taking one game at a time. We are getting better game by game and I believe we can only improve as we go along.”
After eight matches, Bula sit sixth on the ladder with eight points. Auckland FC lead the standings with 19 points, followed by South Melbourne FC (15) and Solomon Kings (14). South Island United and Vanuatu United are level on nine points.
With the table still tight, tonight’s contest presents Bula with an opportunity to climb the standings and reignite their campaign.
