BULA Boys players and officials will each receive $1,000 from the Fiji Football Association after their historic success in the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel announced the reward following Fiji’s 1-0 victory over Vanuatu in the final at HFC Bank Stadium, Suva.

Thomas Dunn’s early strike in the 10th minute proved enough for Fiji to lift the trophy and end a 26-year wait for a major regional title.

Patel said the financial reward was a gesture of appreciation for the national team’s efforts during the tournament.

“Winning a championship like this is never easy, and they deserve to be recognised for what they have achieved,” Patel said.

He praised the players and coaching staff for representing Fiji with pride and showing determination throughout the competition.

“They represented our country with pride and showed great character throughout the tournament.”

The victory also restored Fiji’s place among the region’s top footballing nations.

Fiji had previously won the Melanesia Cup five times, with its last triumph coming in 2000.

The tournament was later reintroduced in 2022 under the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup name.

Fiji returned to the competition in 2024 and finished runners-up to Papua New Guinea.

The latest victory means Fiji now has six regional titles, including its five Melanesia Cup championships.
