After clinching the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge title in dominant fashion, Fiji U20 head coach Senirusi Seruvakula is wasting no time in laying the foundation for the next phase the Fiji Warriors.

Speaking after the 48-16 win over Samoa at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last Saturday, Seruvakula confirmed his immediate plan is to transition many of his young U20 players into the Fiji Warriors squad.

“My focus is to get these young players 17, 18, and 19-year-olds into the Warriors team.

“From secondary school rugby straight to U20s, I want to carry them into the next level,” Seruvakula said.

He said the goal is to keep the momentum going by developing players in a continuous pathway and maintaining team chemistry.

“It’s important we keep them together in the same group for as long as we can and camp them. That consistency in development is key,” he added.

Seruvakula confirmed the Fiji Warriors are expected to regroup in a couple of months, and fans can expect to see many fresh faces especially from the current U20 setup in the squad.

The win over Samoa not only secured the title but also confirmed Seruvakula’s success in moulding a young group into a competitive unit.

That mission, he said, was always aimed at building depth for the future of Fiji Rugby.

“We’ve achieved our mission with the U20s. Now, we shift to the Warriors and continue the development. There’s so much talent here we just need to nurture it the right way,” he added.
