Brothers to clash

THIS year’s FNRL Vodafone Cup final will be a family affair.

Saru Dragons hard-hitting forward and former Fiji Bati rep Tikiko Noke will face-off against his elder brother and Makoi Buldogs tough man Sunia Noke in the Vodafone Cup final to be held at Lautoka’s Churchill Park this afternoon.

The duo is expected to play huge roles in their respective teams in the do or die battle.

FNRL development officer West Lagilagi Golea said it would be exciting to watch the two players.

The former Saru Dragons rep said Tikiko would face an uphill battle mentally and physically against his brother’s Bulldogs team.

Golea, however is confident that the former Fiji Bati would overcome the challenge and live up to his expectation during the encounter.

“Tussling against his elder brother will be a huge challenge for Tikiko,” he said.

“He has been urged to leave their brotherly ties and affection off-the field and treat Sunia like an enemy during the 80-minute battle.

“They will be brothers again after the game.”

Golea said Tikiko had been instrumental for the Dragons throughout the season.

“He has played a huge role in Saru’s campaign this season and I am confident he will deliver the goods for his team in the final,” he said.

“Tikiko has also promised his teammates at training that he would give his outmost to help his teammates create history for the Fiji rugby league.”

He added the brotherly rivalry in the final would inspire the two teams to win the coveted trophy.

Meanwhile, the Dragons are confident of ending their title drought when the dust settles at Churchill Park this afternoon.

Golea said the side had many reasons to win the title.

“This is the third time for the team to reach the final and the boys are going for nothing else than a win,” he said.

“Secondly the players want to dedicate the trophy to one of their veterans and former Fiji Bati rep Semisi Tora who has been with the side for many years.

“The boys have a lot to play for and they know what is required of them,” he added.

The game kicks off at 3pm.
