BIRTHDAY boy Anish Khem and his younger brother, Ashnil Raju want to play for the same team in the future.
Khem who plays for Professional Valuations/Jack’s Nadi turned 24 yesterday.
His brother Raju plays for Jaduram Investment Dreketi.
They played against each in the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Raju and his Dreketi team could have spoiled Khem’s and Nadi’s party, but a late equaliser in the match kept their chances alive with a 1-1 draw.
Raju, 21, said they always gave their best for their teams.
“In football, we do not have to see who you are playing against.
“Even if we are to play against each other, we will give our best,” Raju said.
“It is a like a war. I did my best in the match but it was hard luck.
“We could not win.
“We used to play in religious tournaments and at school but we remain as close brothers.
“My brother Khem is a better player and I want to play with him in the same team.”
Khem said he was proud of his brother’s football career.
“I did not know he was down injured and I kicked the ball out for the fair play.
“When someone shouted out then I saw him,” Khem said.
“I also played for Dreketi in 2012 and I played against a good footballer and a good brother.
“He is good since he was also in the Fiji under-20 team.
“I am proud of my mum and dad.”
