The 2Fresh Touch Rugby Club is all set to host its “bring a date tournament” at the USP grounds tomorrow.

The tournament will be the first to be hosted in the Capital City this year.

President and tournament organiser Helen Kaukirewa said they expected stiff competitions from all teams.

She said the one-day tournament would be an event not to be missed with players such as Suva Rugby Union fullback Enele Malele, who would be part of the Vunitavola team.

“Malele is a Pacific Games gold medallist in the sport and all teams will be vying to beat his side,” Kaukirewa said.

She said there would be two competitions in the men’s and women’s categories.

“We have two men’s teams from Nadi and one in the women’s division,” she said.

“In the women’s competition, there will be no pool competition as they will follow a round robin format.

“For the men’s competitions, we will be having two pools.”

Kaukirewa is calling on teams’ supporters to come out in numbers to cheer on their clubs.

The Fiji Touch Federation president acknowledged the initiative set by 2Fresh.

“The club is following the legacy set by former double gold medallist national coach and founder of the club Jack Sanday.

He passed away in 2019,” he said. “I wish them luck for a successful tournament on Saturday.”
