The Fiji Development Bank (FDB) celebrated the graduation of 40 Brighter Minds Holiday Program participants last week.

The Brighter Minds Holiday Program, run by Brighter Minds Fiji, is a special initiative for the children of its staff members in Suva.

In a statement, FDB said the program provided a nurturing environment where the young graduates, aged between five to 15 years, spent nine days learning how to develop focus, confidence and life skills through engaging and interactive activities.

“Brighter Minds is all about making the child strong, building inner resilience, and preparing them for a much better and stronger adulthood,” FDB chairman Damend Gounder said.

“Giving back to the next generation is our duty as parents, guardians, and community members.”

He also highlighted the program’s impact, noting that over 140 trainers across Fiji have delivered the Brighter Minds program to more than 800 children, including those in remote schools, completely free of charge.

Chief guest and FDB director Emele Duituturaga, emphasised the value of investing in children’s growth.

“A Fiji where every child’s mind shines brightly definitely contribute to a stronger nation,” she said.

The graduation ceremony also reflected FDB’s ongoing commitment to programs that benefit both its staff and their families.

The Brighter Minds Program, initiated by Mr Gounder’s Kimaya Foundation, is recognised by the Government and helps children develop important skills like critical thinking, emotional resilience and positive social behavior.
