The future looks bright for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians as they are expected to secure more Test matches against tier one nations.

This was highlighted by Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board (FRFUTB) interim chairman Peter Mazey while addressing the Flying Fijians team and management at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi on Thursday night.

“We have heard from tier one nations who want to take you on again including the All Blacks, the Wallabies and only yesterday we heard from the Barbarians,” he said.

Mazey said it was a moment of great pride and joy for Fiji as “we come together to honour the dedication, passion and the incredible spirit of our rugby team”.

“Rugby holds a special place in our hearts and it serves as a unifying force that goes across all barriers of race, creed and background.

“It is a sport that has the power to bring our people together in celebration, to lift our spirits and to showcase our talent and strength on the world stage.”

He said in each match the Waisea Nayacalevu-captained side took the field, they reminded us that it’s not always about the final score, it’s about the passion and commitment to the game. “To our team, as we start the celebrations of your return, let us also remember that rugby is more than a sport.

“It is a symbol of unity, perseverance and pride. It reflects the Fijian spirit, the strength that arises from adversity and the ability to face challenges head-on.

“You have triumphed in ways that go beyond just winning titles. You have made Fiji proud by playing with heart and determination, by showing respect and humility on and off the field.”

Mazey told the team they have left a mark with their special brand of rugby, those incredible and electrifying tries and those thundering tackles.

“I want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the coaching staff, the management team and the incredible fans who have stood by the Flying Fijians throughout this remarkable journey.”

He also acknowledged sponsors and partners, especially FIJI Water for their continuous support.
