Brave family thwarts robbery attempt

THE Fiji Police Force has commended the brave actions of the family targeted in an attempted robbery yesterday, noting that their efforts to ward off the suspects played a critical role in preventing the crime.

The family in Tacirua East, Nasinu did not share their stories and referred all queries to the police.

Police confirmed the two men in connection with the attempted robbery were arrested after a swift response by the Southern Division Taskforce team.

“The arrests were made after members of the taskforce chased the suspects, who reportedly resisted arrest by throwing stones at the officers,” police said.

“Several officers sustained injuries during the confrontation. Despite the resistance, police managed to subdue the two men, who were taken into custody. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.”

Police also acknowledged the family’s cooperation and the valuable information they provided, which contributed to the quick arrest of the two men.

Police praised members of the community for sharing information with investigating officers, highlighting the importance of public cooperation in maintaining safety and security.
