The Fiji Amateur Boxing Association (FABA) received an overwhelming response for the competition which was held at the newly build Kings Boxing Promotions gymnasium in Nadi last weekend.
FABA president Thomas Johansen said 64 boxers participated in the competition.
“There were boxers from all around the country,” Johansen said. “The weight categories are from 51 kilograms to 100kg plus.
“So all the weight categories are covered. This is our first ever competition at the Kings Boxing Club gymnasium and the response has been overwhelming.
“The Western community and the Western Clubs, also surprisingly the Suva clubs turned up in numbers. The Kings Boxing Club is only one month old.
Johansen said the Pacific Games was 12 months away.
“We will trying get our amateur boxing competition to be held every two weeks.
“We will hold our Golden Glove Championship in Suva around mid December.
