The Boxing Commission of Fiji is investigating the alleged use of a plaster-like substance by a boxer during a recent bout in Suva.

It is alleged that the boxer was seen removing a plaster like substance from his hand wrap after his fight.

The boxer won his bout on points.

An official complaint was later lodged with the commission regarding the incident.

Commission chairman Adi Narayan condemned the alleged act and emphasized that the sport’s governing body was actively addressing the issue.

“We have received a complaint regarding this incident and the commission is conducting an investigation. We will be able to provide a statement on the issue next week,” said Narayan.

“Following the investigation, the board members will review the report and determine what action should be taken.”

Narayan highlighted the commission’s commitment to addressing concerns within the sport and improving safety measures for all boxers involved.

“The commission is committed to addressing any issues that arise within the sport, and this case is a priority for them (commission),” he added.

“We are aware of the concerns surrounding boxers participating in the sport and this is just one example that has come to our attention. We are dedicated to addressing these issues and making improvements within the sport.”
