Boxers predict a knockout in Nadi fight

SEBASTIAN ‘The Sniper’ Singh and Junior “The Razor’ Farzan have both predicted knockouts in the Canada Fiji Boxing Promotion to be held in Nadi.

In an interview at a press conference yesterday, Singh’s manager Aman Singh said the fight would not last long.

“We are predicting a knockout in the sixth round with Sebastian to be crowned the winner,” said Aman.

Responding to Aman’s prediction, Farzan’s coach and dad Farzan Ali said “Six-round is too long, he won’t last that long in the ring.”

Sebastian Singh said he respected the contribution Farzan and his late brother Joy Ali had made to Fiji Boxing but this fight would see the hero of Fiji boxing.

He said he had been training hard for the fight and was confident of a win.

“I thank Junior Farzan for giving me the opportunity to fight him and it took a couple of years to have this fight and we are glad to finally come to an agreement.

“Preparation has been good and I have been pushing myself to the limit in training. I have been training hard when compared with other fights because I know Junior will not be a walk in the park.

“But at the end of the day we are all human being and in a sport like boxing anything could happen so for me my main goal is to win. I breathe win and everything in my head is for a victory.

“Junior knows every trick in the book, he has been there and done that and fought some of the best fighters in the Oceania region and I give him the respect and also to his dad and late brother —— they have done a lot for Fiji boxing and I guess it’s time for a new hero to take the Fiji banner on to the next level.”

Farzan responded saying he would do all his talking in the ring.

“I thank God for bringing me to this level —— I don’t want to say much and I will do all the talking in the ring.”

Farzan Sr said his son would teach Sebastian a lesson during the fight.

“Something will happen before the sixth round or even the third round,” he added.

Canada Fiji Southern Boxing director Mohammed Shameen said boxing fans should not miss this great fight and urged the boxing public to turn up in huge numbers on June 30.
