FIJI Amateur Boxing head coach Cam Todd believes his six boxers showcased great skills at the 2025 World Boxing Championship in Liverpool, England.

The team, including Aminiasi Saratibau, Sakiusa Narara, Josaia Veiqaravi, Semi Koroi, captain Jone Davule and Jasmine Daunakamakama, faced tough opponents and performed well.

“The World Championship in Liverpool was amazing, with over 90 countries participating. The competition was tough but well-organised,” said Todd.

Todd praised Aminisi Saratibau for his excellent performance, especially in defeating the New Zealand champion, Kagho Taj Eseoghene, in the men’s 80kg prelims.

Despite his opponent’s experience and strength, Saratibau fought bravely and made Fiji proud on the world stage.

“A key takeaway from the Liverpool competition is that our boxers are on the right track, even though they still have a long way to go, I’m proud of their progress and performance.

The team received strong support from Fijian families in the UK and back home, which Todd appreciated. He thanked everyone for their continuous support.

Next month, the team will be taking their Junior Youth development team to New Zealand for two competitions.

This aims to provide new boxers with opportunities to gain experience and grow in the sport.
