A violent brawl at a local nightclub over the weekend has left six people, including one bouncer, hospitalised.

The incident occurred after closing hours when a group of intoxicated patrons allegedly attempted to force their way into the venue.

A staff member who witnessed the incident said the confrontation began around 1am, shortly after two individuals were ejected from a neighbouring nightclub.

The situation escalated quickly, overwhelming the bouncers on duty.

“They were climbing tables and even tried to climb the ceiling fans in the club beside this one,” the staff member said.

“When they left that venue, they tried to come into ours, but the bouncers refused them entry.

“They swore at them and stormed off angrily.”

The staff member said shortly afterward, the two returned with a group of four more individuals and began aggressively demanding entry.

When the nightclub’s bouncers denied them access, the situation quickly escalated.

“They punched one of the bouncers in the face.

“When another bouncer intervened, the group attacked them.

“The bouncers were outnumbered and attacked aggressively, and that’s when the violence spiralled out of control.”

One bouncer suffered a dislocated jaw during the fight and remains hospitalised.

Three are currently admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital and are in stable condition, while two remain unconscious, and one is in stable condition at CWM Hospital.

The staff member criticised the lack of police presence during the incident, saying, “We didn’t see any police around to control the fight or the massive crowd that gathered.”

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP Livai Driu, they are interviewing the employees on duty that night.

ACP Driu said the injured were taken to the hospital by police officers who were at the scene.
