KAHUTO Pacific’s Moana Data Services is expected to address a lot of challenges for landowners and developers in Fiji.
University of the South Pacific’s head of discipline of Land Management Dr Joeli Varo made this remark in a media briefing at the launch of Kahuto Pacific’s newest service initiative; the Moana Data Services (MDS)
Dr Varo said the MDS resolves because of its live data capturing technology that is needed in a lot of areas especially for academics.
“Many of our scholars, our students they do research, but they find it very hard to get LiDAR imagery technology because it’s too expensive since it’s not offered locally,” Dr Varo said.
“To have this available here in Fiji will definitely boost their survey and research.”
He said the initiative would also be useful for landowners who plan to develop their land.
“Land is gold, we need to understand the area that we are living in, we cannot manage what we can’t measure but measure what we can manage, so this type of data is important in terms of understanding the resources we have.
“In any development, we need to understand the monetary value of the resources we have in order to monetise our resources; the live data from the MDS covers all that, from geology, soil clarification, topography, forestry, etc,” he said.
Mr Varo said there are endless opportunities for the utilisation of the data service offered by Kahuto Pacific latest service initiative, depending what on the area of focus from landowners and developers.
The Moana Data Services offered by Kahuto Pacific showcases a customised aircraft equipped with high resolution imaging systems set to revolutionise planning and development across Fiji and the Pacific Islands.
The project is supported by the Asian Development Bank.
