The Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset has partnered with the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation to assist Empower Pacific in its mental health and psychosocial support services.

The partnership is geared towards boosting Empower Pacific’s counselling toll free helpline 5626.

A total of $15,000 was committed by the club to fund Empower Pacific’s awareness campaigns across the radio station’s media platforms for one year.

Club president Jason Chandra said the signing marked the beginning of a new chapter for the club’s efforts to support mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in Fiji.

“This collaboration is not just a formal agreement, it is a testament to our shared commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities across Fiji,” Mr Chandra said.

“This partnership will fund an extensive awareness campaign for Empower Pacific’s 24/7 toll-free counselling line, accessible on 2Day FM, Mirchi FM, and Bula FM, running continuously for one year.

“We believe that this campaign will reach individuals far and wide, ensuring that anyone in need of help knows where to turn.”

He said Empower Pacific relied on donors and the private sector to support its vital mental health programs in Fiji.

“This helpline is a lifeline for many, offering immediate, professional support to those in need.

“We are humbled and honoured to support this great cause. A 24/7 counselling helpline is extremely vital as many individuals face numerous social issues and may not know where to seek help.

“By creating this awareness, we hope that people who need counselling support will be able to reach out to a counsellor and receive the help they need.”

He added Rotarians were honoured to support the worthy cause.

“As president of the Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our members and Rotarians for their unwavering support and contributions towards our various fundraising activities.

“It is through your dedication and hard work that we can raise funds for such important projects and sponsorships. Your invaluable support cannot be thanked enough.

“I want you to know that together, we are making a positive difference in the lives of individuals across Fiji.

“This MOU represents a significant step towards a healthier, more supported community.”
