THE Police Reset document has outlined plans to strengthen the Fiji Police Force’s Cyber Crime Unit, stating there is now a need for tools that track digital footprints, decrypt data and monitor online activities.”
The document calls for the enhancement of the unit, noting that the rise of digital technology has brought about a new wave of cybercrimes, including hacking, identity theft and online fraud.
“To combat these, the specialised Cybercrime Unit must be enhanced. Recruit individuals with expertise in cybersecurity, digital forensics and IT,” the document states.
“Provide ongoing training to keep them updated on the latest cybercrime trends and countermeasures.”
The document highlights the need for the Fiji Police Force to launch public awareness campaigns on cybersecurity best practices to help citizens protect themselves from cyber threats.
