Veteran Fiji Pearls player Adi Vakaoca Bolakoro has urged the young netball players in the national team to maintain their discipline as they continue their progress towards becoming senior players in the future.

Bolakoro shared these sentiments after playing for the British Army invitational team in a friendly match against the Fiji Pearls invitational side at the Vodafone Arena on Saturday.

The Pearls had won 48-36.

Currently serving with the 22 Engineer Regiment of the British Army’s Royal Engineers, she says the young players need to continue believing in themselves.

“Keep doing what they are doing right now and I think it’s more of maintaining discipline throughout and just keep believing in themselves,” Bolakoro advised.

She added in doing so, they would be able to do better and also continue developing themselves as formidable netball players.

A majority of players from the under-21 netballers that played in the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar in September made up the Pearls invitational side and Bolakoro commended their performance

“The high performance from the girls today (Saturday) was amazing, I could see a major difference from the last time I played with them (the Fiji Pearls),” she mentioned.

“It’s really good to see how they have progressed, especially with the under-21, the younger players.”

The younger players on the Pearls had impressed her as she mentioned also seeing familiar faces on the court during the friendly match.

“They have outshone on court today (Saturday) and I’m really impressed with how they performed today, with familiar faces on court and also with the senior players.”

She has represented the country in various netball competitions, including the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
