NACANI Boginisoko, the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s speedster, is now part of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua. The Naivakarauniu, Kadavu backrow player’s signing to the club was announced yesterday.
Boginisoko is the latest addition to a fledging professional rugby career that began with the Dominion Brothers team.
Catching the eye of Fiji 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau, captured audiences with his ability to surge through defenders while also maintaining robust levels of speed and fitness.
“I was excited when I got the call to come and sign my contract with the Drua,” Boginisoko said in a statement. I am grateful to the management for believing in me and giving me the chance to be part of the team for next season.”
Fijian Drua general manager of rugby, Baden Stephenson welcomed his inclusion.
“Nacani (Boginisoko) is an exciting talent who has earned this opportunity through his performances and work ethic.
“He possesses attributes that we believe can translate well to the Super Rugby Pacific environment, and we’re excited to support his development as he transitions into the competition.”
Prior to being a standout player on the HSBC SVNS Series and World Championships, Boginisoko had been part of the Dominion Brothers, the same club departing Drua player Ponipate Loganimasi was part of.
He earned the under-21 player of the tournament award at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and then was put in the ranks of Fiji’s sevens team, making his debut in Singapore in January this year.
