FIJI Bodybuilding is now preparing for its final showdown for the South Pacific Bodybuilding Championship in Tahiti, set for October.

Following the conclusion of the 2025 Suva Classics Bodybuilding competition over the weekend, acting president of Fiji Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Elizabeth Maki confirmed that discussions will be held soon to decide the athletes who would make up Team Fiji.

“In the meantime, we’ll be training our athletes,” she said.

Maki described the Suva Classics event, which saw 27-year-old Robert Purcell claim the Mr Suva title, as a success.

“It is a show that we’re trying for the team Fiji to represent us in Tahiti in October. “That’s about eight weeks of preparation from next week.” She said the federation had received strong support from sponsors and would be focusing on grooming athletes with the help of senior competitors in the lead-up to the regional event.

“We have great potential athletes, and we feel that they definitely can come back with gold.”

She also confirmed that a new federation is in the process of being formalised to lead the Fiji team to Tahiti.
