The body of a five-year-old child who was swept away near the Biausevu Waterfall has been recovered.
The child, an Australian citizen, was swept away by strong currents at the waterfall at around 2pm yesterday.
The victim’s body was discovered along the Biausevu River today.
Personnel from the Sigatoka Forensics Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have uplifted the body and escorted it to the Sigatoka Hospital mortuary.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
Meanwhile, a separate search operation is underway in Sigatoka for a 50-year-old man who went missing in the Tulahewa River yesterday afternoon.
Police say the man was returning from his farm when he attempted to swim across the river and was swept away by strong currents.
