Former Fiji 7s speedster and Flying Fijians winger, Sireli Bobo and his wife Taina paused their usual Saturday activities in town to visit the Fiji National University’s (FNU) roadshow booth in Navua over the weekend.

The couple enquired about their son, Epeli Bobo’s, interest in pursuing a Civil Engineering programme at FNU.

Bobo, a renowned rugby player, having featured in the 7s and 15s codes, has won a 7s World Cup in Hong Kong against New Zealand in 2005, which was captained by Waisale Serevi.

Originally from Ra, Bobo also played for the Fiji 15s in the 2007 World Cup quarterfinal match against South Africa, where he also scored an important try for the Ilivasi Tabua-coached side in the 37-20 loss.

“My son is definitely going to come to Fiji National University to pursue his tertiary studies, and we wanted to know about the programme options, so we were fortunate to meet the team at the roadshow,” Bobo excitedly said.

“My son is away with the national football team at a camp, and he could not make it so as his parents we are here to enquire about the programmes.”

“He is very interested in sports, but also wants to pursue a career in the civil engineering field.”

Bobo’s wife, Taina, acknowledged the FNU team for organising the roadshow for the people of Navua so they do not have to travel to Suva.

“FNU is assisting young people in reaching greater heights, and we are so proud and happy that the University is coming to our towns to inform people about the many options students can choose from at the University,” he said.

“We have enquired with the FNU team about the requirements, and as soon as Epeli is released from the camp, he will come and apply with FNU to kickstart a successful future.”

The FNU Roadshow teams will be at Shop N Save in Navua and at the Nausori Bus Stand today until Friday (31 January – 3 February, 2023) from 9am to 3pm. The team will assist students with their applications, entry requirements and academic assistance.

For ease in admission and registration, FNU also has dedicated enrolment centres to serve new and continuing students at the Koronivia, Nasinu, Derrick, Ba, Natabua, Namaka and Labasa campuses. Students can visit these campuses to complete their application process.
