There was no disagreement amongst the Fiji Rugby Union board members regarding the appointment of Koli Sewabu as the chief executive officer.

This followed the postponement of the official announcement of the new CEO on Thursday, sparking speculation of disagreement between the Board members.

The announcement was finally held yesterday and Board chairman John Sanday assured that no disagreement of any sort transpired over the appointment of Sewabu.

“There was no disagreement,” he said.

“I can just reassure everyone that we are completely united in this and its going to be a great future.”

Sanday also revealed the reasons for the postponement of the announcement.

“There were a governance and procedural aspect that was remaining. Whilst Maxumise had completed all their requirements and scoring, that report had to be tabled to the board which we then accept, endorsed and approved the recommendation which was to appoint Koli Sewabu as he topped the score.

“We were trying to fit that in before that and just so happen that we had a director in Australia, different time zone, another one was in an important meeting, one director was at work, and another one was in the west.

“We couldn’t get it in time, so we had to ask for the postponement and to reschedule it today (yesterday). We finally got that.”

During the announcement yesterday, Sanday made known that Sewabu’s appointment reflected the Board’s confidence in his ability to lead the organisation forward.
