BALLANTINE Memorial School tested their athletes against Lami High School and CMF College during the combined inter-house yesterday at the HFC Bank Stadium.

This marked a positive expansion from last year’s two-school event, fostering a healthy and competitive spirit among the schools, according to Christopher Waqa, Head of Department for Physical Education, Music, and Art and Craft at Ballantine Memorial.

“The competition brings out the best in the three schools,” Waqa said. “I thank the three principals for allowing this to happen. Last year we had Lami, and this year CMF has come on board. So that’s very healthy for us.”

BMS’s preparation for the Suva Zone 1 competition and the prestigious annual Fiji Finals reflects a dedicated and strategic approach.

Waqa highlighted the commitment of the girls’ athletics team, who have been training rigorously with sessions both in the mornings and afternoons, supplemented by time trials to sharpen their performance.

“We still have a few of our medallists from last year, form the Coke Games, we want to tap on that with our athletes, including the sub-juniors and juniors who have come through,” Waqa explained.

The school aims for a well-rounded squad, across sprints, middle, long-distance, and throwing events.
