Lautoka produced one of the standout performances of the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT so far, defeating tournament favourites Ba 2-0 at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday to move a step closer to securing a place in the semi-finals.
In what many considered the match of the tournament to date, the Blues dominated proceedings against a star-studded Ba side and deservedly claimed all three points.
Lautoka took the lead through Apisalome Ravouvou, who reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the six-yard box and calmly slotted home to put his side ahead.
The Blues continued to press and were rewarded again just minutes before halftime when Felix Joseph unleashed a powerful strike from 20 yards out that left the Ba goalkeeper with no chance, giving Lautoka a commanding 2-0 advantage heading into the break.
Ba attempted to fight their way back into the contest in the second half, with several substitutions made to inject fresh energy into the team.
Despite their efforts, they were unable to break through a disciplined Lautoka defence.
Goalkeeper Senirusi Bokini was outstanding between the posts, producing a series of crucial saves to preserve Lautoka’s clean sheet and secure the side’s second consecutive victory of the tournament.
The result places Lautoka in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals.
The Blues now require only a draw against Nadroga in their final pool match today to book their place in the last four.
For Ba, the path to qualification has become more complicated.
They must defeat Nasinu and hope Nadroga fails to overcome Lautoka.
Elsewhere yesterday, Nadroga thrashed Nasinu 4-0, Suva and Rewa shared the points in a 1-1 draw, while Labasa and Navua were locked 0-0 in the second half when this edition went to press.
