LAUTOKA made a commanding start to its 2026 BiC Fiji FACT campaign with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Nasinu at Subrail Park yesterday.

The Blues wasted little time asserting their dominance, with striker Veleni Rasorewa scoring twice in the opening stages of the match. Rasorewa capitalised on a defensive error to net his first goal before producing a brilliant solo effort to double Lautoka’s advantage.

Lautoka continued to pile on the pressure, and Rusiate Matererega added a third goal to put the side firmly in control. Nasinu managed to pull one back through Bruce Hughes, but Lautoka still enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 lead at halftime.

Matererega completed his brace in the second half, finding the back of the net once again to seal an impressive 4-1 win for the Blues and secure three valuable points in their opening fixture.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Lautoka team manager Banishal Naidu believes there is room for improvement.

“It was a good win for the team, but we missed several scoring opportunities. Finishing is an area we need to work on before our next match,” Naidu said.

Nasinu captain Maikah Dau accepted the defeat and remained optimistic about his team’s chances of progressing.

“It wasn’t our day. There were a number of things we planned to do that we couldn’t execute. However, we still have a chance, and our next game is a must-win for us,” Dau said.

Lautoka will face Ba at 4pm today, while Nasinu takes on Nadroga at noon in a crucial encounter.
