THE Lautoka team will resume training today in preparations for the Vodafone Premier League (VPL) and the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League quarter-finals.
Only Benjamin Totori and Brian Kaltack are eligible to represent the Blues in the VPL because of the Fiji Football Association overseas players’ registration guidelines.
Under the guidelines the districts can only register three foreign players for a season.
Lautoka had already registered Sudanese player Majok Magot Piok for the Inter District Championship last October which was the start of the 2017-2018 season.
Piok played only one game picking up an injury.
Hence fiery midfielder Cory Chettleburgh will not be a part of the Sugar City team for the VPL.
Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said Chettleburg would join the team next week.
Kadar said they had received a lot of support since qualifying for the OFC Champions League quarter-finals for the first time.
“There are no major injury concerns,” he said.
“The players were given a break. The group stage was very hectic with the short turn around period for games. Fitness is one aspect that we will have to maintain.”
Lautoka will play 2016-2017 Tahiti first division champions Association Sportive Dragon (AS Dragon) in the OFC Champions League quarter-final at Stade Pater, in Pirae on April 7.
