OVER one third of the artwork and fashion on display was sold at Samson Lee’s Blooms of Aloha event.
The event, held in Fiji, showcased a fusion of Hawaiian and Fijian culture through fashion, art, and dance.
Speaking after the show, Lee described the event as “amazing”, noting the short preparation time for the Hawaiian artists and theatre department cultural managers Marah Nui and Pewa Kawa’akaulanaonamokupuni Dela Rosa who arrived just days before the performance.
Despite the time constraints, Lee said he was pleased with the outcome.
“For me, this is the first time I’ve actually done something out of Fijian culture,” he said.
“This one was very Hawaiian-inspired. Hawaii holds a special place in my heart.”
According to Lee, a key challenge was organising the event in a limited timeframe.
However, he noted that the positive audience feedback made the experience worthwhile.
“When people come to you after the show and say they’ve enjoyed it, you know, that’s exactly what I want.”
