Marist Brothers High School’s junior sprinter Kirikiti Biu returned to winning form on the final day of the Coca-Cola Games, dominating the junior boys’ 200 metres final with impressive speed and determination.

“I would like to thank the God Almighty for his support and guidance to me from day one of the games till day three,” he said gratefully.

“I won my 100 metres gold medal on day one and my 200 metres gold medal today.”

Competing in his first year in the junior grade, Biu did not expect to claim the 200 metres title, making his victory all the more remarkable.

He expressed heartfelt thanks to his coaches and family for their unwavering belief in him.

“I was really happy when I won the 200 metres,” he said proudly. Before the race, a lot of old boys were wishing me well and telling me to win the race, and I’m so happy I did.”

This triumph is the reward for the gruelling eight weeks of preparation that he and his team endured.

Last year, Biu was named the best athlete of the Fiji Finals after winning three gold medals in the sub-junior 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4×100 metres relay.

This year, he successfully defended his 100 and 200 metres titles but settled for silver in the 4×100 metres relay, finishing behind Suva Grammar School.
