The Fijiana 7s side beat Australia 19-12 to finish top of Pool B at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in England today.

It was a dream start from Fiji as two first half tries saw Fiji leading 12-nil at halftime.

The Saiasi Fuli-coached side added another try in the second spell to extend the lead to 19-nil.

Australia applied pressure and added two tries in the last two and half minutes.

Reapi Ulunisau was sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on.

Fuli said it was game management that saw them beat a good Australian side.

“The girls kept their composure and we got the win. It is one game at a time for us and now the focus will be on the semi-finals,” Fuli said.

He added the aim to win a medal remains.

“It will be a bonus if we beat England or Canada. We have come here to win a medal and that aim remains the same.”

The Fijiana will feature in the second semi-final 7.04am tomorrow.
