Fiji has a longstanding relationship with the Australian and New Zealand people. This goes back to the world wars in which our great great-grandfathers fought sided by side in the allied forces and this will always be remembered and appreciated by this generation and after.
They have now showed the true spirit of islanders by being the first beyond the call of duty to arrive in our country with humanitarian aid and I wish to thank them for their kind contribution.
Their caring support of the Fijian people will make a great difference in the lives of thousands of our people affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
There’s no doubt that the need is huge. However, the support of donors such as them is helping us to make it possible for our people to lead happier and fruitful lives. I thank them for their compassionate support and hope they will continue to partner with us in our effort to “rise again”.
