Biggest McDonald’s closes

ORLANDO, Florida – The world’s largest McDonald’s is preparing to close, but it should be replaced with an even bigger McDonald’s next door in a couple of months.

The Orlando Sentinel reports the signature French fry box-shaped McDonald’s restaurant and entertainment complex on the International Drive tourism corridor in Florida was set to close for good on Wednesday night. The McDonald’s building, which looks such as a giant box of french fries, first opened in 1976.

Besides the restaurant itself, the McDonald’s offered other activities, such as bowling, slides and video games.

Officials with Oerther Foods, the company that owns and operates the restaurant, say construction of the new 19,000-square-foot (1,765 sq metres) complex will begin in February.

The restaurant is the biggest McDonald’s on Earth and has fed millions of tourists from all over the world since it opened its doors.
