FFA elections | Big names nominated for Fiji FA VP positions

A number of new faces could be elected as vice-presidents when the Fiji Football Association conducts its 87th Ordinary Congress this weekend.

Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that they will be holding their congress on Friday, at 10am at the Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa in Suva.

It is understood that former vice-president and businessman Aiyaz Musa is one of the candidates nominated.

Former Suva football president Ritesh Pratap, Labasa football president Rayaz Khan, Lautoka football president Shailendra Prasad, Nadroga football president Max Chetty, Jiten Kumar and Moin Ali are believed to be the other names nominated.

“Yes, nominations have closed but the governance committee will meet this afternoon (yesterday) to check eligibility of candidates before we release,” Yusuf stated.

The Fiji FA elects six vice-presidents to represent the South, West and North as well as a women’s representative.

At the moment, the VPs for Fiji FA include Jitendra Kumar, Girja Prasad, Jitendra Reddy, Edwin Chand, Yogeshwar Singh, Naziah Ali-Krishna and Susan Wise as the representative for women. Straight after the congress, the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT will kick off at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Looking at the fixtures for day one, the opening match is scheduled for 12.30pm between Nadi and Nadroga.

Navua will battle Lautoka in the second match at 2.30pm, followed by a match that is expected to be a thriller when Rewa will take on Ba at 4.30pm.

Day One will conclude with Suva facing Labasa at 7pm.

Pool matches continue on Saturday and Sunday with the semis and final to be played next weekend.
