MALOLO will be the first challenger of the Farebrother Trophy this season.

Newly promoted to the Skipper Cup after a few years, Malolo is set for a bruising welcoming against holders Naitasiri on August 2 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Malolo rugby president Jone Tuilawa said all the work they have been doing in the last five years, since he took over, has finally got them to where they wanted.

The challenge now will be maintaining their place in the top tier, and it starts from the first round against the Highlanders.

“That first match is important for us because it will be our chance to challenge for the Farebrother against Naitasiri.

“I know this will be the match that will truly show how we measure up to the standard of Skipper Cup and what its like going against these top teams,” he said.

Malolo is no stranger to the Skipper Cup having being part of the competition in 2016 until they faced relegation at the end of the 2018 season.

“This team has been together for the last three years. After the end of last season, we got the team back together during off-season and now we are almost at the end of our pre-season preparation. Things are looking great in camp and the players are in high spirits. We have achieved the tearget set from previous years and now we look forward to achieving what we have set out for this year,” Tuilawa added.

Now back in the top flight, the club is calling on their families, friends and loyal fans to support them this season.
