Opposition MP Aliki Bia has reiterated his support to the Prime Minister and the Coalition Government.
While contributing to the budget debate on Monday, he said he would work for the best interest of all Fijians.
“We are here to serve for the best interests of all Fijians, and most importantly, be the change that they wanted,” Mr Bia said.
“And if this demand some independent Opposition members like me to assist and support the leadership of the Prime Minister to govern the people of Fiji, then I am more than happy and willing to do so.
“However, that will not stop us as independent members supporting the Prime Minister to address something we feel may be detrimental to the people of Fiji.
“The bottom line is, we are here for the people, and we are bounded by the people and no matter what it takes, we need to put our body on the line for the sake of ensuring that the voices of the people are heard in this august House.
“I’ve already mentioned this in Parliament and please allow me to say this again — if not us, then who? If not now, then when?
“We the Members of Parliament need to saw the people of Fiji that we must take action now and not to wait for someone else rather than being considered as a bystander which will make us part of the problem and not bringing any solution to issues concerning the people of Fiji.”
