Almost 60 households at the Tore informal settlement in Lautoka will soon have better living conditions with the Ministry of Housing commencing with the Tore project this week.
Housing and Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony and reminded the residents to embrace change.
“Let us remember that progress is not a one-sided effort. It requires the active involvement and commitment of each and every one of us,” he said.
“As we embark on this journey of transformation, I call upon all community members to embrace change, to engage in dialogue, and to collaborate with the authorities to shape the development of Tore.”
Under the upgrade, the Tore settlement will see construction of infrastructure such as drainage, proper water supply and roads.
“The project will not only offer a more secure and comfortable environment for the residents but also promote a sense of community cohesion and engagement,” Mr Nalumisa added.
