Fiji showed heart and fight but were outclassed by a clinical Belgium side, going down 7–0 in their second match at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025.

Belgium came out firing, scoring twice within the opening 10 minutes, setting up a dominante attacking display that sustained throughout the match. They held most possession throughout the first half, adding three more goals before the break to take a 5–0 lead.

Fiji struggled to deal with Belgium’s movement and precision but stayed disciplined, with goalkeeper Melvin Prakash producing several key saves to prevent further damage.

The second half saw a much-improved performance from Fiji. Farhaan Khan and Sialesi Vatanatawake stood strong in defence, helping their side absorb wave after wave of Belgian pressure.

The Fijians looked more determined and organised, throwing bodies on the line and staying compact through the middle. Tensions rose in the second spell when Belgium were reduced to ten men after a red card for violent conduct.

Fiji continued to show resilience, but defender Teimana Goundar was later sent off for a second yellow card as the game grew more physical.

Belgium eventually broke through again late in the match, with substitute Ali Camara firing in a low cross for Mitongo to complete his hat-trick and make it 6–0. The lead was extended once more through Mitongo in the 86th minute to finish the game 7-0.

Fiji will now look to regroup in their final Group match against Argentina on Monday morning (NZT).
