MISS Dove Alisi Vucago counts herself lucky when it comes to family and friends.
The Serua native, the youngest of eight siblings, says she has been looked after very well by her family members.
“My father was a school teacher, he passed away in 2012,” said Miss Vucago.
“His passing was a challenge for my family and me, however I have a devoted mother who is my greatest inspiration,” she says.
Having well accomplished older siblings to rely on and look up to for motivation, she says she has always strived for greater things. “While I have been so lucky in the journey of my life so far, there are many women and children who would only dream of a life as such. Every day we see stories of abuse and violence in the news and it saddens me a lot,” she adds
Miss Vucago said looking at the plight of such vulnerable people, especially women and children, she decided to direct her charity efforts towards the great work being carried out by the Homes of Hope.
“My sponsor — Motibhai Group has launched a special raffle ticket promotion with attractive prizes on offer and money raised from this initiative will be directed towards the Homes of Hope via the Hibiscus charity chest,” Miss Vucago said.
“Through direct care at their residential campus and community programs, Homes of Hope are giving surviving victims the freedom to step away from the destructive cycles of abuse, providing a fresh start of hope, freedom, dignity and life.”
Homes of Hope is a Fiji-based charity working with young women and children who are victims of, or are vulnerable to, situations of abuse and violence.
