Aporosa Tamani, the meet manager, expressed satisfaction with the successful event, which served as valuable preparation for the upcoming Suva Zone one meet in week six.
“The competition went really well, the students had a great time out of the classroom, and enjoying the sport of athletics,” said Tamani.
“A total of 700 students took part in the competition this year, which is a big number from last year.”
He adds an innovative addition this year was the inclusion of year 1 students, aimed at promoting development and enjoyment among all participants.
As preparations continue for the Suva Zone one meet and the Fiji Primary School Athletics meet in week 12, Tamani highlighted the school’s focus on early readiness and preparedness for the tough competition ahead.
“Preparations are going well for the students for the zone as well. We know that this year will be a tough competition and it’s good to prepare early,”
Our aim is to first complete our inter-house and then prepare for the Suva Zone One meet, that would be in week six.
“And from there, the focus will shift to the nationals, the Fiji Primary School Athletics meet, which is, I believe, scheduled for week 12 of this term.
“Last year we were the overall winners in the girl’s grade, also we were also the overall winners for Suva zone one last year.”
Tamani extended gratitude to the parents and teachers for their unwavering support during the competition, acknowledging the positive impact of their presence on the students’ experience.
