SALES from Food Processors (Fiji) Pte Limited’s Batiri operation generated more than $200,000 last year.

However, its chairperson, Raj Sharma, said products produced at Batiri and transferred to Food Processors Fiji for export were valued at approximately $129,000.

“Combined, the two streams represented about $214,000 in sales and products transferred for export during the year.”

Apart from this, Mr Sharma said the Batiri operation also generated approximately $20,000 in net income from sugar cane harvesting, providing an additional revenue stream for the business.

He said the figures demonstrated the commercial value of the investment while also creating wider economic benefits.

“The investment in Batiri has resulted in 25 new jobs, providing employment and income for workers and their families.

“Most importantly, the investments we have made to Batiri have had some ripple impacts, with 25 new jobs created.”

He said the impact of the investment could not be measured through financial figures alone.

“For us, this is more than just statistics. It means income, families have greater financial security, and 25 people develop their skills,” he said.

He said this demonstrates how commercial agricultural operations could generate revenue while creating employment opportunities and supporting economic activity in communities.
