PHILIP Baselala’s season with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has ended after suffering an injury.

Head coach Mick Byrne said the scrumhalf injured his arm while playing for the Fiji under-20.

“Young Philip Baselala busted his arm with the U20s, so he is out of the season,” Byrne said.

Following the six-week suspension of Frank Lomani, Baselalal provides cover at scrumhalf alongside Simi Kuruvoli and Peni Matawalu.

However, his injury has left the Drua with only two options at the key role hence the short-term signing of Moses Sorovi.

“Normally Philip would have stepped in, but we can’t run the risk of having only two halfbacks in the program so, we had to get in a third one to provide cover and depth there.”

Meanwhile, recovering Flying Fijian Caleb Muntz is nearing his return to competitive rugby after a serious knee injury.

“Caleb is going well; he is going to be joining in some trial rugby next week which puts him about four to five weeks away,” Byrne added.
